Massa staying put
"Ferrari announces that it has extended its agreement with the driver Felipe Massa through to the end of the 2010 racing season.
"Massa has been contracted to the Scuderia since 2001. To date, he has taken part in 34 Grand Prix for the team. He has won five times, had sixteen podium places and finished 25 times in the points. He has secured eight pole positions and the same number of race fastest laps, with a total of 166 points scored."
This announcement is a very positive announcement for Ferrari.
Had the rumors been true, and Ferrari were ready to trade away Massa for Alonso, the negative attention Alonso brings with him would have brought the team down, not to mention hasn't been part of what Ferrari is since the late '80's or early '90's.
This year, despite being victims of cheating and having to deal with the favoritism McLaren and Hamilton are receiving, Ferrari has brought the championship down to the last race and have maintained a positive, clean and honest atmosphere. While the McLaren team continues to operate with all kinds of corruption and shady business in general, no one can accuse Ferrari of that this year.
Massa is a big part of that, and keeping Massa tells the world Ferrari wants to win, but wants to win fairly and as a team together. Not a team divided.
Forza Massa, forza Ferrari!
